The United
States of America is the third largest country by total area 3,97 million
square miles with more than 300 million people live there. The nation was
founded by thirteen colonies of Great Britain and they announced the
Declaration of Independence on July 4th , 1776. The Capital of
United States of America is Washington,D.C.
Statue of
Liberty was presented to the United States by the people of France in 1886. It
stands at Liberty island, New York as a welcome to all visitors, immigrants and
returning Americans. The statue is of a robed woman holding a lit flame. It is
46 meters tall from the pedestal and the foundation.
The bald
eagle was chosen June 20th, 1782 as the emblem The United States of
America, because of its long life, great strength and majestic looks, and also
because it was then believed to exist only on this continent. The bald eagle
represents freedom. You can see this bald eagle with outspread wings on the
backs of Americans gold coins, the silver dollar, the half dollar, and the
quarter.
